The Diana Davis Spencer Foundation

The Diana Davis Spencer Foundation in coordination with the International Committee Against Mental Illness' program, Global Stress Initiative (GSI) and iSynchrony Clinic graciously supported the treatment of 20 veterans impacted by PTSD.

The vets came for treatment from all services, from enlisted to elite ranks, and from all walks of life. The results were dramatic.

The Diana Davis Spencer Foundation's mission espouses the values upon which our nation was founded: freedom and individual responsibility. The mission of the foundation is to promote national security, entrepreneurship, self-reliance, free enterprise, and to enhance quality of life by supporting the arts, education, global understanding, health advancements, and preservation of the environment. The DDS Foundation is led by Chairman, Diana Davis Spencer and her daughter, Chief Executive Officer, Abby Moffat. Recently they donated $100,000 to the International Committee Against Mental Illness' (ICAMI)'s program for veterans, Global Stress Initiative.

ICAMI is led by Robert Cancro, MD, Chairman Emeritus of NYU Department of Psychiatry. Its mission is to contribute to the eradication of mental illness. Mental Illness has suffered from stigma and therefore has not received the degree of attention that it requires. Global Stress Initiative is a program launched by Dr. Cancro's niece, Lorraine Silvetz, MSW for the treatment of veterans and their families impacted by PTSD. As GSI’s Executive Director she recommends non-pharmacologic interventions, including individualized transcranial magnetic stimulation (iTMS) offered at iSynchrony. Director, Robert Cancro, MD states that:

“Post-traumatic stress and other stress disorders are on the rise and can precipitate alcoholism, substance abuse, depression, depending on a person’s genetic predisposition. I recommend iTMS because it helps combat stress. Research has shown that iTMS can increase attention, clarity, focus and decrease anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Given there are no side effects this technique is well worth considering since it improves a person’s quality of life.”

Lorraine Silvetz, MSW states:

GSI is promoting alternative techniques to help in the alleviation of stress disorders. One of our programs goals is to spread awareness of iTMS and its efficacy as an alternative technique for the alleviation of symptoms of Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Robert Silvetz, MD, Director of iSynchrony states:

“We got a 50% or more reduction in symptoms of PTSD restoring the veterans to a healthy mental state.”

All participating veterans response to iSynchrony's treatment has been nothing short of dramatic and many have offered testimonials as to the life enhancing and lifesaving effects of iTMS.

Navy Seal, D E states;

The way I see it, this treatment has saved my life, my marriage, and my relationship with my children .I find myself introspectively evaluating who I need to tell about this wonderful intervention from the pool of those I have worked for and with. I find myself recommending this treatment with struggling service members that are under my care on a daily basis and keep a cache of pamphlets describing the treatments to provide to others at a moment's notice.

Mine has been an experience of healing, a curative treatment, and not symptom management. This is what is lacking in traditional approaches to PTSD, TBI, etc in military settings. iTMS may provide a method that is safe, effective and low-cost to not only improve the quality of life of those suffering from debilitating neuro-cognitive disorders, but also improve the retention of service members. What's more, those that transition from military service will be better and more productive citizens as well.

To date, iSynchrony has treated 20 veterans under the DDS Foundation's generous grant. All have experienced dramatic results.
